ನಳಿನಿ ಶೇಕರ್ ಅವರು ಹಸಿರು ದಳದ ಸಹಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾರ್ಯಕಾರಿ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರು. ಅವರ ಧ್ಯೇಯ ಅಸಂಘಟಿತ ವಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ದುಡಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವವರ ಕಾಯಕಕ್ಕೆ ಘನತೆ ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವುದು, ನಿಶ್ಚಿತ ಆದಾಯ ಬರುವಂಥ ಜೀವನೋಪಾಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಭದ್ರತೆಯನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವುದಾಗಿದೆ.

ಹಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ನಳಿನಿಯವರು ಘನ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಯ ಹೊಸ ವಿಧಾನಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ಮತ್ತುನೂರಾರು ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಆಯುವವರಿಗೆ ತರಬೇತಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಯ ವೃತ್ತಿಪರರಾಗುವ ಹಾಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಕೌಶಲ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಲ್ಲಿ ನೆರವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೇ, ಅವರು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರಕಾರದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ನಾಗರಿಕರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಸ್ಥಿರ ಪದ್ಧತಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಆಯುವವರ ಏಕೀಕರಣದ ಅಗತ್ಯದ ಕುರಿತು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಆರಂಭಿಸುವ ಮುನ್ನ, ಅವರು ಒಂದು ದಶಕದ ಕಾಲ ಯುಎಸ್-ನಲ್ಲಿ ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯದ ಸಂತ್ರಸ್ತರ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಹೋರಾಟ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದರು. ಇದನ್ನು ಅನುಲಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಸ್ಯಾನ್ ಜೋಸ್ ಸಿಟಿ ಸರಕಾರದ ಸಾಂಟಾ ಕ್ಲಾರಾ ಕೌಂಟಿ ಹ್ಯೂಮನ್ ರಿಲೇಷನ್ಸ್ ಕಮಿಷನ್ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಗೌರವಿಸಿ, ಕ್ಯಾಲಿಫೋರ್ನಿಯಾದ ಗವರ್ನರ್ ಆಗಿದ್ದ ಅರ್ನಾಲ್ಡ್ ಶ್ವರ್ಜೆನೆಗರ್ ಅವರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ “ಸರ್ಟಿಫಿಕೇಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಆನರ್” ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.

ಮೂವತ್ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಸುದೀರ್ಘ ವೃತ್ತಿಬದುಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ, ನಳಿನಿಯವರು ಹಲವಾರು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ, ಪ್ರಶಂಸೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಂಪೇಗೌಡ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ, 2015, ಬಿಬಿಸಿ .ಕಾಮ್-ನಿಂದ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಯ ಪ್ರವರ್ತಕರಾದ 100 ಮಹಿಳೆಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆ, 2020ರಲ್ಲಿ ವರ್ಷದ “ನಮ್ಮ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಯನ್” ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾದವುಗಳಾಗಿವೆ BBC.Com.

ಪಿಂಕಿ ಚಂದ್ರನ್

Pinky Chandran is an independent journalist, researcher, author and waste
management campaigner.

She is the founding member of the Solid Waste Management Roundtable (SWMRT), a collective of SWM practitioners working on decentralised & inclusive waste management since 2009, Bengaluru and a Trustee at Hasiru Dala, a social impact organisation that works with waste pickers and other waste workers to ensure a life of dignity, since 2010.

She has co-authored Valuing Urban Waste: The need for a comprehensive recycling policy Version 1 (2018), Hasiru Dala; , A Mirage: Assessment of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and SWM Rules 2016: Wastepickers Perspectives across India, supported by Alliance of Indian Waste Pickers and IGSSS ( 2019); “Communicating the Sustainable Development Goals-A Toolkit for Community Radio Stations”, developed by SMART and Supported by UNESCO and UNICEF ( 2020). Garbage inspires her to write poetry.

She is passionate about community media, and believes that everyday people
should have access to create their own media, and currently serves as a Board
Member at Seeking Modern Applications for Real Transformation (SMART) SMART, an NGO committed to empowering communities and runs Radio Mewat, a community radio in Haryana.

In the past she co-founded Radio Active 90.4 MHz Bangalore’s first community
radio station, in 2007 which attained an exemplary status of being the most
inclusive community centered station in the country, before handing it over to Jain University in 2021.

ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿ ಕರುಣಾಕರನ್

Lakshmi Karunakaran is an educator and a communication professional based in Bengaluru, India. She started her career as a telecom engineer but soon shifted gears to work first as a communication specialist and later as an educator. She is the program lead for the Parag Initiative of the Tata Trusts across India.

Over the years, she has worked with children experiencing social exclusion in government schools, special needs schools, remedial schools, and in disadvantaged communities. For years she led the Buguri Children’s Program at Hasiru Dala.

2017ರಲ್ಲಿ, ಅವರು ವಾರ್ಸಾದ ಸೆಂಟರ್ ಫ಼ಾರ್ ಕಂಟೆಂಪೊರರಿ ಆರ್ಟ್ಸ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ’ಆರ್ಟಿಸ್ಟ್ ಇನ್ ರೆಸಿಡೆನ್ಸ್’ ಆಗಿದ್ದು, ಪೋಲಂಡಿನ, ಕೆಲಸ ಮುಗಿದಿರುವ ಗಣಿಗಳ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಕುರಿತಾದ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಾಜೆಕ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಸಿಂಗಾಪುರ್ ಇಂಟರ್ನ್ಯಾಷನಲ್ ಫ಼ೌಂಡೇಷನ್ನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆರ್ಟ್ ಫ಼ಾರ್ ಗುಡ್ ಫ಼ೆಲೋಷಿಪ್ 2019ರ ಫ಼ೆಲೋ ಆಗಿದ್ದರು. ಉಪೇಕ್ಷಿತ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಮತ್ತು ವಯಸ್ಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಓದುವ ಹವ್ಯಾಸವನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವ ಕುರಿತಾಗಿ ಅವರ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಾಗಿ 2020ರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೈದರಾಬಾದ್ ಲಿಟರೇಚರ್ ಫ಼ೆಸ್ಟಿವಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ’ಇಂಡಿಯ ರೀಡಿಂಗ್ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಯಡ” ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಸಮಕಾಲೀನ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರಿಗಾಗಿ ಇರುವ ಟೀಚರ್ ಪ್ಲಸ್ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ನಿಯತವಾಗಿ ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.

Arzu Mistry

Arzu Mistry is an educator and artist who maintains a high level of dedication and enthusiasm for art, craft, and design, as mediums for pedagogy, advocacy, transformation, and intervention for building sustainable, inclusive communities. Arzu has facilitated the education working group for Creative Dignity, A consortium of organizations working with crafts communities in India. Arzu is the founder of the Art in Transit and placeARTS public art projects in the city of Bangalore, with a focus on art as a medium for dialogue between people and the urban spaces they inhabit.

Arzu co-facilitates the Accordion Book Project and is the co-creator of the artist book Unfolding Practice: Reflections on Learning and Teaching. Her art and education practice connect teachers, youth, and families with place using memory, story, play, and design practices through inter-disciplinary education and public community art facilitation, integrated curriculum development, livelihoods training, teacher professional development, and educational research and practice. Arzu led the Creative Education undergraduate program and co-led the Public Pedagogy and Arts Practice Masters program at the Srishti Manipal Institute for Art Design and Technology in Bangalore. She is a fellow with Reimagining Migration and has taught with the Project Zero Classroom, the Future of Learning, and Arts and Passion-Driven Learning programs at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Arzu has a BFA from the California College of the Arts, an Ed.M from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and is currently pursuing her doctoral work at Teachers College, Columbia University

“ಕಳೆದ ಐದು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಹಸಿರು ದಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಅನುಭವ ನನಗೆ ಸಂಸ್ತೆಯ ಮೂಲ ಮೌಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮನನ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹಾಯಕವಾಗಿದೆ. ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಗಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಅನುಭವವು, ಅನೌಪಚಾರಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕರ ಬದುಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಧಾರಣೆ ತರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಹಲವಾರು ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ನೆರವಾಗಿದೆ. ನೆಲಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ತರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪೂರ್ವವಾದ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ಮತ್ತು ಅದ್ಭುತವಾದ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿರುವ ಮಿಸ್ ನಳಿನಿ ಶೇಖರ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಕೃತಜ್ಞಳಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ನಾನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಉತ್ತಮತರ ಮಾನವಳಾಗಿ ಪರಿವರ್ತಿತಳಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ.”

I was impressed by Hasiru Dala’s objective to work for the waste pickers’ welfare through social security and livelihood opportunities. Hasiru Dala has also earned a reputation for working for solid waste management practices in rural and urban areas with a close concern for nature. There have been no boundaries or limits to work here as I have had the space to explore innovative ideas to create livelihood opportunities for waste pickers families. “ಬದುಕಿನ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಅಗತ್ಯಗಳಿಗಾಗಿಯೂ ಹಗಲು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಹೋರಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಆಯುವವರ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಸಬಲೀಕರಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ಹಸಿರು ದಳದ ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ಧ್ಯೇಯಗಳಿಂದಾಗಿ ಅದರ ಜೊತೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವುದೇ ಒಂದು ಸಂತೋಷದ ವಿಚಾರ. ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಆಯುವವರಿಗೆ ಜೀವನೋಪಾಯದ ಆಯ್ಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡುವ ಪರಿಸರವನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗಾಗಿ ವೇದಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸುವುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ. ಹಸಿರು ದಳದ ಮೂಲಕ ಬದುಕಿನ ಹಲವು ಮಗ್ಗಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಸಿರು ದಳದ ಮೂಲಕ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗಾಗಿ ನನ್ನದೂ ಕೊಡುಗೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೇರಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ.”

“ನಾನು ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಹಸಿರು ದಳ ಕುರಿತು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ, ನನಗೆ ಅದರ ಹೆಸರೇ ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿತು. ನಾನು ಅದನ್ನು ಸೇರಿದರೆ ಎಂಥ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಲಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಗೊತ್ತಾದಾಗ ನನಗೆ ಅದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗೌರವವೂ ಮೂಡಿತು. ನಾನು ಅತ್ಯುತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡೆ. ನನಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಆಯುವವರ ಸಮುದಾಯದವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಆತ್ಮೀಯತೆ ನನಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ತಂದಿದೆ. ಈ ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹಸಿರು ದಳಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ಕೃತಜ್ಞನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ.”

“ನಾನು ಹಸಿರು ದಳದ ಜೊತೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ಇದು ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ಆಯುವವರಂಥ ಉಪೇಕ್ಷಿತ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳ ಏಳಿಗೆಗಾಗಿ ದುಡಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಒಂದು ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ-ಆಧಾರಿತ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯುಳ್ಳ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಮನವರಿಕೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತಂಡದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರ ಸದಸ್ಯರ ಜ್ಞಾನವು ಅವರ ಬದ್ಧತೆಗೆ ಸರಿಸಮಾನವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಗೊತ್ತಾದಾಗ ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಲು ಬಯಸಿದೆ. ನನ್ನ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಹಾಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ವಹಿಸಲಾಗಿರುವ ಕೆಲಸಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗಲೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಕೌಶಲ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಮನವರಿಕೆಯಾಯಿತು.”
